John Harder spent the majority of his Active Service flying Spitfires with 64 Squadron, declining a move to the "Eagle Squadrons" (formed up from American pilots flying with the RAF) or to the USAAF (with an increase in money!) to stay with the friends he had made in 64 Sqn.

After the war, he was posed to 567 Squadron where he remained until resigning his commission
